Bringing Minds Home and Under Control

In their ideal world all empires search for a total handle and control on their population, where only restricted thinking, a mindset of endless slavery, subservience and total obedience to the Empire is maintained.

Until the 20th century these aspirations remained in the Land of Dreams. Today we live in that land, most of us remaining unaware the transgressions perpetrated on us through a massively manipulated technological and ideological industry.

“I visualize a time when we will be to robots what dogs are to humans, and I’m rooting for the machines.” — Claude Shannon

How such ignorance has been inculcated and impressed on our global population is through incessant repetition of storylines depicting evil dictators going for world domination, finally being destroyed by the good guys. Through films and entertainment outlets we have drunk these in copiously. Yet these evil criminal entities are, in reality, those displaying themselves, like peacocks, as the beneficial good guys, intent on bringing all an ease, comfort and peace they are indoctrinated to dream of.

Do you notice how often the word dream is thrown into the crowd? The American Dream, (nightmare as George Carlin so rightly ascribed), your dream house, dream life, dream holidaydream girl/boyfriend. How the expectations are drilled into us, seemingly innocuously and projected equally innocently through the storylines in film, TV and media?

The invention of the moving image, the birth of Hollywood, television and now the Internet have all become the hijacking tools for dissemination of mind seeded ideals, dreams and visions of a future where humans are the pinnacle of their existence among the panoply of nature, its creatures and the environment. Ironically all the time it is the destruction of nature, its creatures and the environment that struts alongside these deceitful illusions.

In the days of the Roman Empire, it was the bread and circus that kept the crowds supplicant, satiated and most of all distracted from realities perpetrated against them. Today our technological bread and circus is no different towards means and ends, it just looks and acts shinier, more alluring and tempting. Like fish rising to pellets thrown them, we gobble up these trinkets, the distractive apps, the utterly mind numbing soaps and entertainment believing we are better off. We kid ourselves big time that we hold the precious flame freedom, live a life of ease and betterment our ancestors would be in awe of.

From this writer’s point of view, writing these truths and observations often feels akin to living a constant Groundhog Day, where no matter how many times truths are told, shared and explained the world’s dumbing down, servitude and silence on these matters stays stuck, like some old Anemometer, locked foretelling no wind, no disturbing storm brewing, just the occasional summer breeze, while all around a hurricane of control, enslavement and deceit finally gets screwed into place. Whipping us all into order where every breath, every movement both facial, actual and mental is recorded, noted and logged is their nirvana being processed.

Dystopian you might think. You’d be one hundred percent correct. Never happen really, you add. Wrong! It is here, embedded and embedding deeper as people persist in believing it could never  really happen. The protestation “I’ve done nothing wrong, so what harm is all this fear of surveillance?” must be the most heinous cognitive dissonance, ignorant appraisal and worse, utter refusal to admit the sheep in front, around and behind you offering these trinkets, are wolves disguised as convenience, more choice and greater personal freedom.

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act attributed to George Orwell

We all can attest the encroachment of moving images, press media, television in its invasion of the deepest corners of our lives. So many accept this as one more marvel of entertainment, progress writ large, information spread widely and a greater opportunity for growth in knowledge.

Rethink! – Bread and Circus.

In Roman times the Frumentarii, whose original remit was to collect wheat tariffs, doubled up as the secret service of the Empire. Today we have, traversing through and into all areas of our lives, the CIA, NSA, IRS, GCHQ, MI5, JIO, Inland Revenue, FSB, CSS, RPS etc. Worldwide intensive connectivity where all and more of these entities link themselves, enable control of a global population.

The key to this jail cell we have willingly permitted ourselves to be locked into is in our own hands.

Truth has to be sought—in tears, in sorrow, in desperate revolt; here a little and there a little gained, and when gained held against all comers for the sake of humanity and sometimes at the cost of life itself – Charlotte Despard, The Great Conspiracy

The birth of social media platforms such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and YouTube, offer the dream in extremis. All are owned and run by a technocracy of oligarchic, self serving psychopaths, who have all consciously and willingly sold themselves to the controlling powers. Its tech and owners’ souls swallowed into these national and international security services, combine and create a behemoth of such vast reach as to be all encompassing. Technology, both in physical and mental terms has reached a point whereby we are all suckered in on some level or other, unless of course we live in the wilderness, way off grid.

To whatever degree that suckering attaches itself by way of our needs, desires and impulses, we are trapped while connected. Collectively we have bought wholesale the proposition technology is good, when in actuality it is neutral until manipulated. The mantra it advances is that it brings us closer to that time where we humans need to sweat less, relax more and live our freedom out loud. This lie, as presently presented, reverberates like a tolling bell of doom, while sounding to the sheep like wedding bells. So many utterly fail to comprehend that buying into this belief, is buying into a phantom dream sold, a mirage portrayed and only able to operate because we turn off both individual and collective control and autonomous direction.

It may look like choice, yet it remains a superbly crafted lie. It may look like we are in control of our own lives, yet  when the plug is pulled leaving us incommunicado, without reach, fighting uncontrolled freezers, baby alarms, front door lock outs, the loss of television and computer interactivity, out of control autonomous cars, no street or public lighting and without any access to fiat and digital currencies, the truth is revealed. The ultimate prison with no bars visible; yet for a dumbed down utterly dependent population this is  terminal withdrawal of freedom and independence.

5g-russiaWe already vote electronically making our choices open to manipulation, to whatever lie is the delicious deception of the day. Crowd control is effected through levels of microwave frequencies within Active Denial Systems.  Augmented and virtual reality replace our true reality thanks to 5, 6 and their interminable Gs and beyond, invited through our insatiable desire for anything but reality. With the realisation of the harm and entrapment these portend the swift vocalisation of so many screaming they never saw it coming and their unremitting denial it was ever their fault is laughable and pitiful. Allowance and acceptance through a pathetic desire for easy entertainment and virtual connectivity encourages and drives the relentless domination of these modalities now seeded.

The Internet of Things sounds so palatable, so innocuous does it not?
It allows the ignorant to salivate on what it enables them to enjoy, create and get immersed in. All the time this ignorance to the reality drawing them in, like technological Sirens or arachnid magnets to a web far darker than any Dark Web. It blinds and fools them with impunity. This web looks light, glorious and the answer to all problems and challenges. All the time it is manipulated to continue imprisonment of all within a suffocating, unbreakable controlled environment that demands total submission and an adherence to unquestioned obedience.

Recently we have witnessed total blackouts across two vast countries in South America. Venezuela has been targeted through its energy grid to surrender itself to the Empire. Global drop out at various stages and intensity of social media apps demonstrate the ease of denial of services. Terrorist infestation of infrastructure grids in the Russian Federation set themselves on a quiet cyber war against those more likely to spill the truth. The list grows almost daily.

We are told to believe Huawei is set on infiltrating and holding to ransom the West’s infrastructure, while in reality the accusers are the very perpetrators of these actions, blaming their ‘enemies‘ while asserting they are the ones upholding and protecting us all from evil and criminality. How so many cannot see through this ever thinning veil covering these lies is astounding as well as down right frightening.

There is no longer any division between the entertainment and news industries. Seamlessly absorbed into each other, over and above incestuous breeding, Hollywood has, over many decades, inculcated as ‘normalmind control, pre-crime, the substantive coercive state interventions targeting non-imminent crimes, alien invasions, acceptance of pedophilia as a social particle and psychopathy as merely a disease able to be cured. While such absurd lies are projected and injected, they get obscured and ‘forgotten‘ through the delivery of newer and better tech toys offered to a deluded population. This age old technique keeps the truth as far away as possible while the addicts get even more addicted.

In reality these ‘toys’ join the prison cell dots invisibly, slaughtering, in the medium to long term, many and enabling a conditioning no previous bread and circus could have possibly dreamed of in their wildest fantasies.

rabbithole
The rabbit hole runs deep. The desire to change nothing, inculcated and programmed into so many minds as best option and easy out, is the evil elixir too many plump for. If they but knew how self administered their own suicide was, both physical and mental, they might think twice. Yet weak minds remain fallow fields for sowing all manner of servility seeds.

In a world saturated with confusion, division, redirection and full blown propagandised BS, taking the simplest action to release oneself is seen as a mountain too far. Simple now becomes complex, war peace, lies truth and so on and on.

The addict’s greatest challenge is to leave the needle, booze, snort, theft and curdled mind behind for good. The thought of retraining mental processes exciting these addictions, let alone physical abstinence, looms huge and seeming insurmountable, yet breaking oneself from technology that invades, takes over and redirects your every moment is exactly what needs to be enacted.

Grounded skills, artisanal expertise, wise counsel, common sense, self reliance and solid mental strength become the currency of sanity and equilibrium. In a world bankrupt of all these today, this foreknowledge is gold.

To kick the addiction is why we all are here. You can call it what you like but bottom line that is it. Whether we succeed cannot be judged good or bad. The mission is without colour or judgement. It is simply Mission Experience. We are all the result of efforts  encountering challenge, succumbing to or overcoming them. That the soul can never be jailed is a truth deserving first and foremost place in our mind, if we are to survive as whole beings and ultimately warriors in this world.

We will never move from our present state and place unless we awaken to what and who we truly are. We can never unlock our own self imposed jail time until we are prepared to take such action as is necessary to free ourselves. That entails dropping all preconceptions we have spent a lifetime holding to. To rely on others to do that for us is lunatic. We have to investigate exactly and precisely our own self, get to know and love it and be prepared to make changes when those parts no longer serving us, still hang around dementedly demanding centre stage.

It becomes imperative we dispense with any other telling us what to do. It demands questioning every imposition foisted on us, any good/bad thrust on us because we are told it is bad/good for us and that we need it or must avoid it. To ask every time that telling question –  cui bono (who benefits)?. It exhorts each of us grow up, be the adult we must become. The actions needed to retain an operational critical mind and develop our innate critical faculties become imperative. This can really only happen once we dispense with everything preventing our autonomous mind and output to function properly.

Orienting towards like-minded and positively driven minds, conscious communities, (tiny, small or large) built on trust, transparency, justice and tolerance executed through unconditional love is a starting point within both reality and our potential. Best encountered in the flesh, it demands getting out, meeting, sharing and forever questioning with an open mind and heart. Executing the off switch controlling tech is best practice.

Is this too much to ask of ourselves for a freedom where others cannot dictate what freedom should mean and where autonomy and knowledge bring forward a greater Ecology of Oneness and a life worthy of true explorers and pioneers?

For myself I know it is not.

‘Cause the line between
Wrong and right
Is the width of a thread
From a spider’s web
The piano keys are black and white
But they sound like a million colours in your mind

White Knights of the 21st Century

This article written in 1992 by the author was presented to and commissioned by the industry magazine Creative Review. It was heralded as one of the most seminal and powerful articles laying out the potential for the future of the advertising and media industries. As with so much about these industries even then praise came with an agenda that sought self preservation over public need and good. They refused to publish it as it would have been as good as self suicide! Today some 27 years later its prescience, proscription and potential for root and branch change resonate as powerfully and effectively as it did then. I offer it now as I did then – towards the actionable courage to change, grow and become better beings towards a better world.

As confusion, job losses, financial and personal hardships bite into the industry is this the nemesis of advertising or could it herald the birth of a totally new communications industry for the coming century?

A copywriter friend described the other day how someone told him that advertising must be considered the black magic art of the 20th century (and they didn’t mean chocolates). Reflecting on that, I suppose when you see the content of greed, self-interest, envy, desire and lust for money, position and power, it seems a first class contender for the title. Redressing the balance by citing that which is true, decent, honest and legal in our business would still probably find the scales tilted in favour of the former. Not that we are an industry of crooks, more that we are the offspring of a conditioning covertly plied as the cornerstone upon which the pathways to success and happiness have been built.

Heresy I hear you cry.

But then how is it that our economic and social order is in such tatters? How is it that misery and suffering abound so much today? Something has gone drastically wrong within our “civilised” world for us to be in the state we find ourselves. It may be easy to blame politicians, governments and all sorts of external factors but I believe the time has come whereby we need to look a lot closer home, within ourselves, for the answers.

The green consciousness taking up the banner in so many areas is witness to the fact we are no longer able or willing to tolerate past mismanagement of the environment and ourselves. The awareness is dawning whereby no matter how technically advanced we may think we are, we are not going to save ourselves from our own ignorance and stupidity on this present trajectory, unless we create radical change.

The opportunity to redress the balance is emerging. Our industry has caught onto this as well, although it has often been interpreted merely as a useful USP (unique selling proposition) however it is encouraging both agencies and clients alike to rethink their approach in many areas. When the view of what is happening globally and our attitude to it is reduced to the level of the individual it is possible to see, if we are really honest, how our every thought, action and deed determines what happens to us. This gives us the key whereby we can begin to take control of our lives and what goes on within it.

From a global perspective this requires taking not only responsible action but also more importantly responsibility for that action. If understood on this level, lust for money, power, envy, greed and self-interest, have unsurprisingly been the qualities of our schooling leaving us in the sorry state we’re in today. A consumer society works well when the consumption and production are balanced by the needs of the society. When the greed is greater than that need the whole thing falls to chaos and we are at the mercy of things outside our control. It becomes clear within an industry able to communicate to so many, the responsibility and quality of that message is enormous. It is being able to recognise the potential going with that responsibility I believe the industry can play a most potent part in educating and showing people their true values and needs. Advertising is part of one of our greatest assets for expanding knowledge and wellbeing. Its existence and transmission through instant global communications, TV and press entering the living environment of millions makes its power to inform tremendous. So too can its quality be.

Could we see a time when advertising agencies become the conscience of society? The potential to influence through the media with the message is well proven, Marshall McLuhan told us that through his ‘The Medium is the Message’.

Agencies take on the role between producer and consumer, where they not only creatively communicate the proposition but also persuade clients the true selling pitch lies in the creation of products being ethical, caring, good for the total environment and beneficial to the consumers’ wellbeing on every level. The shift over the last few years in one particular area – that of ethical insurance has shown how people are really concerned as to how their money is invested. This growing awareness creates new and exciting business. This can only happen if individuals take on and accept their own responsibility towards developing their conscience. Being ethical and responsible no way hinders or prevents decent profits, yet when excessive profits, from specious and irresponsible players becomes the goal, ethics and responsibility go south.

The prevalent attitude over the last twenty years or so has been that if you clean up your money making act, by losing the cut and thrust of greed and self interest of market forces, you will not be able to make a profit or sustain a viable business model.

Fight dirty to win at the expense of anything or anyone is the attitude of those unable or unwilling to change.

It is true that in these hard times agencies are forced to cut expenses, salaries and even dump top creatives in order to maintain solvency. However these actions beg the question we have all been expecting too much for too long and the healthy option would be to cut expectations and lifestyles, allowing moderation and not self-interest to be the motivating force. It may be a hard pill to swallow in an industry thriving on inflated egos and hyped up image, but then these have been the very ingredients bringing us the situation we find ourselves in today.

Many of us find the present climate creates such significant changes it becomes difficult to not only cope but to even find reasons why all these things are happening. Only by taking control of our situation, which comes hand in hand with understanding the true reasons why things are so dysfunctional can we rebalance and redress the imbalance we have imposed on Natural order.

Gandhi’s immortal words that There is enough in the world for everyone’s need but not for everyone’s greed” hold a telling resonance.

Between producer and consumer the advertising industry carries a powerful position. With this position comes responsibility answering the demands of both client and consumer. Agencies have had to tread a difficult path. In times of hardship fearful clients and realities that arise from belt tightening across the industry have compromised the quality of the message.

The way out consists not only in observing financial restraints but also for agencies and clients alike to investigate all avenues on a deeper level. Some have begun this and are seeing a new way forward. We have arrived at a point where responsibility and integrity demand covering a much wider area. If the balance we observe so keenly in the natural world is to be of any lasting significance and mentorship, it needs to operate within our own personal environment. This demands a fundamental reappraisal of our attitude toward ourselves and to those around us.

The message pitched in advertising is one of Want, Want, Want. If this is reconstructed to what we Need, Need, Needthen moderation and balance must begin to be properly addressed.

It will mean manufacturers and suppliers become aware of and serve the real needs of the consumer. This, by extension breathes a whole new existence into the market research industry whose tainted, exploitative reputation will demand root and branch reappraisal. When manufacturers and clients put their expertise and energy into the emphasis on quality and care creating the product and service then balance, presently leaning heavily towards profit motivation can be shifted. Profit in any business is acceptable and essential. That it comes as reward for offering honest service and goods is far richer than if created merely as a means unto itself. The integrity with which goods are manufactured then is purchased along with the goods. The attitude going into creating anything be it car, washing machine, meat pie, cosmetic or piece of art definitively affects and infects the very nature of that product and its inherent relationship with the consumer.

A great idea turning into a much respected, timeless creation starts out as a clear, instinctive, pure and creative thought, one providing help, benefit, satisfaction and purpose. It works as much for dog food as it does for a Leonardo. The only barrier in believing so is our perception as to the value of any creative idea. All of us carry creativity within constantly manufacturing present reality with every conscious and unconscious thought and action. Most of the time oblivious of this truth, we reject and push creativity into the sole domain of the artist and innovator. We lose the intensity and ability for owning and utilising ourselves this potent power for change.

We lose sight of the fact we constantly create who we are. Through what we choose to do or not do, what we eat, buy, say, believe and think is just as much a creative process as anything else. If we refuse to own that reality and its concomitant responsibility, then we open ourselves to stuff happening to us from outside our control, unable to maintain the helm of our personal navigation and ability to guide our lives into the calmer waters of self-control. It takes a lot of will power alongside a healthy desire not to inflict suffering on our self, let alone others. To create new responses and outcomes to problems present times create around us takes brave and creative minds. Those pioneers need to question, know themselves before being in a position to help others. The lens of self awareness needs to offer sharp focus and transparency consistently to be of real value to each of us.

That very creative process is inherent within the industry. The art of persuasion is a recognised quality and oft-abused tool of the industry. When that persuasion emanates from a point of selfless caring for others’ well being and education and not from self-interest, the impetus for a paradigm shift in consciousness becomes possible and I dare say inevitable. It is a proven fact that being of service to others brings its own positive rewards. Often those rewards reveal themselves in a form we least expect yet they are never detrimental to the success of any operation.

We advertise the fact we live in the caring nineties with campaigns utilising words and images spelling out these ideas and propositions. Yet unless these qualities are reflected in the minds and actions of those creating them they become worthless.

The old, easy habit of saying one thing and doing another is not conducive to example. We flatter ourselves we inhabit a moral business yet is it any wonder superficially good and noble causes promoted with great campaigns are simultaneously created by those  leading lifestyles that are excessive in the extreme. It is within these aspects of ourselves we are forced to question motivation. Only after radically altering our perception can we be in a position to show and help others.

Does this sound too much to ask?

Perhaps viewed from today’s cynicism, yes, but then no great campaign, no great idea has ever been created without it being ahead of its time, able to stand out as being truly great and innovative. We may all aspire to those annual pencils (the Ad Industry’s DADA awards – Ed) as honouring our creativity, but there could be in the coming century a greater writing implement created as our award – the rewriting of ourselves, who we are and how we have redesigned ourselves to become.

That would be true and magnificent creativity. Today’s advertising industry no longer will be considered the black magicians of the 20th century but transformed into the white magicians for the 21st century, disseminating greater consciousness, integrating empathy and encouraging a more critical, informed and healthily served population across the globe.

Refuse To Supply State Of Israel With Any Oxygen of Propaganda

We live in spurious, lying, vicious hateful times where our ruling elites tell us all the truth is Fake News, all their BS, deceptions and illegal criminal and heartless acts are what we need and must accept, in some countries by law. They try and convince us they know best, their way is the highway and any divergence from these narrow lanes is countenanced as treason, treachery, un-(stick your country here) activity.

At Highly Likely News we endeavour to fight such rubbish through humour, direct challenge, truth and common sense. The power the powers that be, through their internet colluding corporations have over most alternative messages  broadcast seems at this moment in time to be huge.

Sometimes humour necessarily turns to anger at the transparent, outright injustices perpetrated on us all. This can rightly be described as righteous anger, though the PTB will castigate it as terrorist, undemocratic, revolutionary, anti establishment far leftist, far rightist, communist, nay sayers……. the list goes on.

Today that great organ of national propaganda, paid on pain of imprisonment by a witless public, the BBC, announces its refusal to boycott the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Israel this year. In spite of decades-long ongoing illegalities the State of Israeli regime entity traduces on the Palestinian people, those who profess to carry the flag for “Freedom and Democracy” collude, say nothing and endorse it in every which way.

Such anti semitism from them all is abhorrent.

They support the lies that front bench Labour and Jeremy Corbyn, their leader are anti semites, yet when they outright back illegal acts, murder and settlements in Palestine they never admit this is the real, true anti semitism in action.

The State of Israel was built on terrorism, created through coercion and strong armed tactics, bullying, deception by a bunch of Zionist terrorists, who went on to infect and infest all Western governments and mainstream media outlets with their weasel ways. Any questioning their criminal activities was and is always branded as anti semitic.

What a two faced, blatant hypocritical lie. No one is more anti semitic than the Zionist Israeli State. Its secret service apparatus is founded on deception by its own motto. To be coddled and blessed, though many would say cursed, in holding this farce of political correctness cod entertainment in their illegally obtained country is yet one more transparent, obvious marker of a callous, could not care less for anything legal, truthful and totally non-humanitarian approach. Its criminal leader and his ministers, to any sane, half intelligent human are monsters parading as innocent victims. This playbook has so passed its sell by date as to be comic if it were not so criminally insane.

BDS, the Boycott Divestement and Sanction movement so hated by these criminals is a voice of sanity, reason and truth in a global wilderness of lies, deception and illegality. Supporting BDS is the best action any could take in a world where they otherwise feel powerless. It demands sacrifice, intelligence to know what is on our shelves marked Made in Israel and demanding all creative arts, performers and anyone roped into supporting the Israeli myth be targeted and told categorically to stop supporting criminals, killers, despots and liars. It is today rewarding to see more and more people supporting this alienation of a specious state. It killed apartheid in South Africa as it will surely kill the State of Israel and its lunatics.

Self serving ignorance, apathy and I’m all right Jack attitudes become the un-conscripted army encouraged  and supported by the rank, anti semitic Israeli State. Silence is the enemy of truth. Complicity by any means, inaction being one, becomes the voice and vote for apartheid, racism, bigotry and hate towards sanity, legality and humanitarian response.

Time to wake up, act now and spread truth not lies!

Celebrities including designer Vivienne Westwood, Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters and 2018 Mercury Prize-winning band Wolf Alice’s Ellie Rowsell have called on the BBC not to support the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Israel this year.

Eurovision may be light entertainment, but it is not exempt from human rights considerations – and we cannot ignore Israel’s systematic violation of Palestinian human rights,” they write, in an open letter also signed by singer and Womad Festival founder Peter Gabriel, author AL Kennedy, actresses Miriam Margolyes and Maxine Peake, and film directors Mike Leigh and Ken Loach.

If Our Children Are Our Future, Why Are We Snuffing It Out?

It is said that our children are our future. The generations to come are the world to look forward to. Yet we seem determined to fail not only our children but our future.

As our world develops ever greater selfishness, ever more preoccupation with its own myopic self centre, our children become a mere adage of our hopes and aspirations.

We seem to have lost so much touch with what it is to be a steward of not only our own creations, our children, but on a greater canvas, our world and all that is therein. How is it we have become so self centred, so absorbed in our wants without truly recognising the needs of our children, their planet and generations so soon to carve out parameters defining the next several generations?

Addiction, self absorption and inward looking holds an evil veil over us, it covers so much that is essential and obvious. It blinds us to real necessities. It shuns true lessons we need to be imparting our children. Yet all the time we remain addicted – to the television, media and their preposterous lies, smart phones giving us so much more than information, feeding our toxic lifestyles. We career down avenues of blindingly obvious dead ends.

Habits are a part of life patterning. Bad habits are our excuse for embracing tentacles constituting the self comforts of life. Becoming comfortable is a disease so virulent it poisons every sensory  part of our lives to the point of terminal toxicity. Yet we continue to inject ourselves with such poisons.

On the political front these poisons are vaunted as values, as codes of ethics to live by while all the time becoming so unethical as to inject into our mainstream a death inducing silence in compliance. Words and actions distance themselves from each other like a bad smell to the nose.

We complain how unruly the children whilst missing completely their actions that merely reflect everything we have taught them, failed them and shown them by example how to become even greater animals in nature than sentient evolutionary beings.

You want truth? Look around, see the world you live in. Feel you are not responsible for what you see, experience and interact with? Then feel free to completely negate any truth passing your way. You and all of us are individually responsible for the world we create, interact with or participate in or try escape from. Any refusal to accept these facts is pure deadly denial.

Look at the drugged kids on the street, the homeless, the neglected, abused. Where was the charity, love and compassion as you tut tutted walking by? Where was the enquiry as to how things came to this pass? Why the fear that involvement might threaten your cosseted life if engaged? So many questions yet so few responses, merely reactions. This is how we avoid our own personal responsibility by deflecting it across to others. It must always, it seems, be someone else’s fault, responsibility, cause or problem.

Well let me enlighten you – it is not. It is ours. Until we engage fully with empathy, responsibility and the challenge of stopping and saying out loud – ” Enough is enough!” it will merely continue to become an even greater and greater travesty of  and in our human life.

“When care flies out of the window the soft bed of vulnerability exposes her nakedness to pure evil in the form of exploitation”

The object of this short article is not to point blame, to assign guilt it is to point out the bloody obvious. We have failed each other. We have dropped the baton that was meant to be passed on to the next generation. Most importantly we have failed ourselves.

Perhaps a place to begin is to stop assigning blame on anything other. Maybe we can take the next step to look at ourself, how we have allowed in our weakness the situation to arrive at where we are. Unless we can stop and say, “No, it is from here, right now, from myself that everything must begin to change” then we are doomed.

If that sounds hopeless, a reason to fling the arms up high in despair, then you still have not got the guts to admit it is you that can change things, it is you that must accept and handle personal responsibility in what has been perpetrated on you, by you and against you. Until you can operate from that starting point, then the same old, same old will penetrate and persist throughout every crevice of your life.

Being human has been designed to become the pinnacle of magnificence. To bring it down, God knows how many notches, merely diminishes and dissolves the gift of life to the point of dissolution.

Let’s not go there, eh?
